His Excellency Mr. Alaa Batayneh
Senator Alaa Batayneh is a current member of the Jordanian Upper House of Parliament. He holds a B.A in Electrical Engineering and an MSc in Management Information Systems from The George Washington University, with over twenty three years of work experience, nine years in the private sector in the US, the UK and in Jordan in areas covering marketing, satellite communication and consultancy services, and 14 years in the Civil Service as Secretary General of the Ministry of Transport for five years, Director of Jordan Customs for two years, and a Cabinet Minister for seven years, serving in six Governments in three different ministerial porftolios: Transport, Public Works and Housing, and Energy and Mineral Resources.
He received The Grand Cordon of The Order of Independence on 25/5/2006, and The Grand Cross of The Order of Orange-Nassau on 25/10/2006.
He was awarded The King Abdullah II Award for Excellence in Government Performance and Transparency several times while serving in the Public Sector. He is on several boards of different prominent organizations. He is a founding partner of Alarif Consultancy, which he currently runs.
Senator Batayneh Married Princess Rahma Bint El Hassan in July 1997 and they have two children.
